Latest Info on the Project

The Project was open to young people on 10 December 2004, and over the past year has seen over 70 young people make use of the drop-in facilities.

Before the summer, we had a good steady group of young people that attended the drop-in and had split the group into 2 age groups. On a Monday evening we had a Primary aged group of P4’s-P7’s and on Tuesday evenings we had a secondary group of Form 1’s and above. Our after-school sessions were for both age groups.

We also had a great opportunity of working alongside the Youth Conference Service, which aims to give young offenders the opportunity to understand and make amends for their offending behaviour and to take future steps to stop future crime.

Over the summer, we were quieter due to the holidays, however we still managed to have a great time with the young people in various summer planned activities. We started a graffiti mural on the backyard wall; went bowling; made very fashionable scarecrows; had two Movie Nights; ran a DJ Decks workshop and also a Dance workshop. These were great fun and a really good opportunity to build good and positive relationships with the young people.

As the summer came to an end we reverted back to our regular evening sessions and were able to increase the programme for an over 16’s Group on a Monday Night.

The drop-in stays busy and has facilities for computer games (PC, PS1 & PS2), arts & crafts, other games, and hot & cold drinks all free of charge!

We hope to be able to start a Peer Education Course with the over 16’s group, and develop the other programmes in the next few months.
